RADIO PRODUCTION
In Spring of 2023, I took an advanced radio production class, COM 262: Advanced Radio Production.
In this class we focused on creating a mock radio station. Each project would build on a new skill that would benefit us for working in the radio/music industry.
Project 1 - Image and Brand
The first project was all about branding and creating an identity for a mock radio station. I was required to create a logo, a station profile, fill out FCC paperwork, while also producing sweepers, promotions, liners, and legal IDs. For my station, I chose to do a CHR/Top 40 format.
Project 2 - Programming
The second project was focused on creating the programming needed for my station. This included creating a Top 40/CHR playlist, a weekly schedule of programming (both local and syndicated), demos of some of the programs, and the open/bumps/closes for one of the programs.
Project 3 - Digital content
The third project for this class was to create, design, and demonstrate digital content knowledge. This consisted of designing a website homepage, 2 examples of web content, Facebook posts, and Twitter posts.
Project 4 - Commercials
The fourth project consisted of us being assigned a random business from Bloomington-Normal and having to develop a commercial for them. This consisted of creating two commercials as well as filling out work orders, talking with the business owners/managers about what they would want in a radio commercial. I was assigned a local Brewery called Fiala Brothers Brewery and Beer Hall.
Project 5 - promotions
The fifth and last project for this class consisted of creating a large scale giveaway. I chose to do a Lollapalooza festival ticket giveaway. I had to create promotions for the giveaway, two live on air segments, and a promotional calendar.
Project 3 - Digital content
The third project for this class was to create, design, and demonstrate digital content knowledge. This consisted of designing a website homepage, 2 examples of web content, Facebook posts, and Twitter posts.
